Are you going through a season where you’re feeling lost, confused, and like you’re running around stressed out with no freaking clue what you’re doing with your life?!
To be honest, that was me for the last 6 months. Now that I’m out of that funk, what I’ve found is that it all comes back to getting clarity and finding your purpose again, because without it, we kinda just feel like sh*t. We feel icky and purposeless, which is so contrary to what we are here on this earth to be doing. If you’re wondering how to get unstuck and find your purpose again, read on, because I’m breaking down the exact secrets I uncovered to get life clarity and move forward with confidence.
Secret #1: What is Your Outcome?
The first secret to finding life clarity and getting unstuck from your rut is figuring out what your outcome is in the first place. If you don’t know where you’re going, it’s pretty hard to have clarity, purpose, and confidence. Without a set direction, you’re just left questioning everything.
It's like if you were to open up Google Maps and you weren't able to put in the outcome or the address for the destination that you want to go. You’d just be wandering around, watching your little blue dot, but getting nowhere.
That’s why the first secret is to know what your outcome is. What do you really want? And I mean, really want? Not what anyone else wants for you or what you see others striving for. This is all about you, babe.
For example, my biggest goal right now is to grow my YouTube channel so I can create a community of quality humans who want to grow, learn, expand, build personal brands, and get paid to be themselves. That is my true desire and passion. That is my outcome, and it’s a very tangible one. It’s not something like “I want to feel freedom,” because there’s just so many ways you can feel freedom. A desire like that is too hard to measure.
So step 1 is to get clear on your outcome and make sure it’s tangible.
Secret #2: What is Your Purpose and Your WHY?
After you figure out your outcome, then you can think about your purpose and WHY you actually want that outcome. If you fail to reflect on and get clear on this WHY, you're likely to end up doing things that you think you should be doing or that you see other people on the internet doing, even though they don’t serve you because you don’t really want it in the first place. In order for you to really move forward and take action, you need to know the WHY and purpose underneath the outcome.
For example, I want to grow my YouTube channel because it feels fun, exciting, and the thought of having a community of quality humans lights me the eff up. My WHY underneath that outcome is that I am a teacher at heart. I love being on video, teaching, and being in community with others. It just feels right and like I’m talking to my best friend. What’s better than that? For me, sharing my life, business, marketing, branding, and embodiment experiences just feels good. Serving others in this way is 100% in alignment with my values.
Secret #3: Take Messy Action.
The last secret to finding life clarity and getting unstuck is taking messy action. This is where most people get tripped up. Like I mentioned, I’ve been in a funk for the last 6-9 months. I’ve been overthinking everything, feeling overwhelmed, in my head, and wondering what I’m doing with my life. I’ve just been wishing that someone would give me the freaking answer. Have you ever been there?
The truth is, the only one that can give you the answer is yourself. You need to do the work to figure it out yourself, and the only way you’re going to figure it out is to take messy action. This is where perfectionism has to go, because you can't take messy action when you're trying to be perfect. You're not going to know what you love and what you want until you try a bunch of things.
When I started taking action on my dream life back in 2016 when I was in my 9-5, I had no idea I would end up on YouTube. My undergrad and grad degree is in architecture, and from there, I become a personal trainer, a nutrition coach, now a business mentor and trauma healer and now…. here I am, creating content for you on YouTube about life, business, and building a personal brand. Like… What!?
You have to take one micro step at a time until it dominos and gets you to where you are truly meant to be. Instead of trying to figure out all the answers and manipulate the universe, just take one day at a time, one micro action at a time. I’m a pretty spiritual human, so the question I’ve been asking myself is, “God, what would you have me do? What is the one thing I need to do today?”
Whatever you believe in, ask God, the universe, spirit guides, angels, whatever it is, to guide you. You don’t have to do it alone. Ask for guidance, trust your Intuition and lean into community with others (like me!) and build the life you want with the people you love.
Ask your highest self if what you’re doing feels alive for you right now. Ask your body if you feel alive. Your true purpose is to follow that intuition and take action towards it. All these little micro actions add up over time, getting you to where you want to be.
I’ve been asking myself this question, and for a while, I didn’t have an answer because I felt like nothing was making me feel alive. Looking back, I think I was actually navigating some depression, which was a new experience for me. That’s when I decided to start making videos. And guess what? It made me feel ALIVE. I leaned into what I already loved, documenting my life on video, and started taking messy action by creating a YouTube channel. I have no idea where this will lead me, but that’s not for me to decide right now. All I know is that creating content in this way lights me up right now, so I’m going to keep following my intuition and serving my community in this way.
You don’t need to have the next steps figured out. You just need the first step, which requires radical self trust. You don't have to be perfect, because the moment you try to be perfect, you lose people and the essence of what you’re doing. People want the real, authentic version of you. Ditch the belief that if you’re not perfect, you’re not lovable. You are perfect just as you are. Take that messy action, show up, and that is how you’ll build self trust and confidence in what you’re doing.
If you’re wondering how to get unstuck and find life clarity, just remember this acronym: OPA (Outcome, Purpose, Action). I got this model from Tony Robbins and it changed my entire life! I guarantee if you follow this process, it will help you find confidence and feel alive again. Too often we get caught up in the doing that we forget to DAYDREAM!
I hope these tips and my story of finding life clarity and taking messy action has inspired you to get clear on your OPA and find your true purpose.
